2014 Nissan X-Trail India Released In 2015

Nissan had just announced that it will discontinue the current generation X-Trail in India which came in via the CBU route and made an announcement that it will focus on locally manufactured products instead from here on. The X-Trail sold merely 7 units in the calendar year that ended on December 2013 and even we feel that it was not fit for the company to go on this way. But that doesn’t mean that the SUV will go off sale permanently from the country and the 2014 Nissan X-Trail will go on sale in India very soon.
Price
The 2014 Nissan X-Trail is the third generation of the SUV, and is an all new vehicle. It is expected to be priced at around Rs 20-22 lakhs.
Nissan is believed to have already begun working on the next generation X-Trail’s launch in India and the car will be manufactured locally at the company’s facility at Chennai. The Indian facility will be among the 9 facilities globally where the company will manufacture the X-Trail and the same will be exported as well from the country. Nissan is currently working with its suppliers to procure parts for the SUV and the car will hit the Indian toads by early 2015.

Nissan already has its plate full for the year 2014 as the Datsun Go, Datsun Go+ MPV and facelifted version of the Sunny are due for launch. The Datsun Go will be launched in March 2014 with the remaining 2 coming in later on. The 2014 X-Trail gets a major revamp in its third generation guise and one of the key issues of not having a third row of seats has now been taken care of. It gets an option of a 1.6-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre diesel motor internationally and we will get the latter in all likelihood. The engine will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.

Nissan gets Active Ride Control which scans the road that lies ahead and adjusts the suspension of the car accordingly and this will surely help the off road trips. It will be available in 2-wheel drive as well as 4-wheel drive versions and will get a 7-inch touchscreen Nissan Connect Infotainment system on the inside.  It will lock horns with the likes of Honda CR-V, Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Hyundai Santa Fe.
